CPB+ LA
YEARS
LEADERSHIP
Journey with me back in time… to the year 2011… The Royal Wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William, gas prices are $3.52 per gallon, and Agency of the Decade, Crispin Porter Bogusky, was going through a lot of changes.
CP+B (Not CPB+, as it is known today) had just moved its iconic home office from Miami to Boulder. Founder, Alex Bogusky, had left the building and climbed up into the mountains to count his millions and talk to pine cones. The agency's core talent were all departing for high-paying gigs in other agencies.
The Agency of the Decade was going through a massive identity crisis. What better time to create a new office in LA?
Sometimes the best thing to do in a time of radical change is to add, well, even more change.
Having just built an agency from nothing, I was tasked to lead and build the LA office of CP+B.
My plan was simple: Combine the very best of the CP+B creative culture with the freedom and energy of an independent modern agency start-up.
It worked, and the office grew from a small production outpost of 6 people to a fully integrated modern agency with over 150 employees in just under 3 years.
Making CP+B LA their fastest-growing office with the most awards and new business wins.
CULTURE
New business and awards are all super-duper wonderful and fantastic things, but I am most proud of the positive, creative culture we created at CP+B LA.
We didn't want to be another "creative sweatshop." We reimagined CP+B LA as a more modern agency with diverse cultures and diverse skill sets. We worked smarter and more collaboratively. It was a fast 5 years, but we had a ton of success and a ton of fun building it.
